Project scheduling is an essential tool for every project manager, executive and supervisor.  Construction is difficult enough and having a solid plan can make the difference between success and failure.  Good scheduling practices are essential to developing and maintaining a valid, useful critical path method (CPM) schedule.  Understanding the best practices will help the user create a stronger schedule.  This class will also discuss risk management, including identifying changes, noting contract requirements, developing and using fragnets, and preparing time impact analyses.  This series will not require a computer or scheduling software.

PART 1: INTRODUCTION TO CPM SCHEDULING

  • Part 1 will introduce participants to the fundamental concepts and best practices of CPM scheduling. Participants will learn the various elements of a CPM schedule, scheduling terms, and major concepts. This class will also teach proper practices, including activity development, logic types, types of float, criticality and the process of developing a baseline schedule.

PART 2: PROGRESS UPDATES / RISK MANAGEMENT, DELAYS, FRAGNETS & TIAs

  • This class will concentrate on progress updates and risk management, beginning with progress updates.  Cost and resource loading concepts and applications will also be discussed.  Participants will be introduced to change management in the schedule, including delay analysis and methodologies.
